I make art and write this newsletter because it’s what I love to do, because I know there are so many people out there feeling similar things, because I want to put out into the world what I’m looking for, knowing I’m not the only one who craves honesty, boundless creativity, community, a soft place to land between waves of grief. ~Nicole

Whether or not you can contribute financially, please know that I value you. So much! The time and attention you give to CDS matters. Your voice matters. Share CDS with someone who you think would appreciate it too. There are so many ways to be a part of this community.

That all being said, financial support is really helpful to the work I do. If you’re able to give, know that you’re funding web costs, but also my time. To be able to spend more time writing and sharing these soulful reflections as well as making my art. Art isn’t merely a product to me. At its best, I believe that art is a portal, a pathway, a form of transportation, of communication with the soul.

And I don’t mean soul in a religious way for myself, or limited to a religious sense of the word. To me, soulfulness is found in the depths of grief, in simple joys and observations of the space and time I’m in right now, in love, in what we do just cause, in acts of kindness or compassion done when we think no one is watching.

I’ll willingly share my story but I also want people to feel free to share theirs with me too. This is a place where you are encouraged to be you, to have all your emotions, to reflect on what’s within your power and what’s not, to use your free will to make your corner of the world a bit better however you can, to let your pain, desires, joys, hopes fears coexist, to feel that glimmer, the magic of being alive.
